Things to do in Downtown Las Vegas!

Written by Tiffany Milligan – A Vegas Local

Ever wonder what people do in Downtown Las Vegas? You MIGHT have heard it’s where all the crazies hang out…or maybe you’ve heard that it’s a dying area... you MAY have even heard that it’s dangerous! Let me assure you, there are things to do in downtown Las Vegas that are not offered on the Strip, it’s not dangerous, and the area is thriving – alive and well is how I’d describe downtown! Aside from the all of the street performers, casinos and the canopy light show, we have a variety of fun activities to fill your days and nights!

Cycle Pub Vegas is a pub crawl that might be better termed a "pub pedal". I mean you hop on this wooden bar contraption thing-a-ma-bob and you pedal your way around the streets going from bar to bar for 2-3 hours. You’re literally sitting at a mobile bar with 6-15 people burning off the calories you’re consuming. Sounds great to me! Bring some tunes because this “bicycle bar” is equipped with speakers to blast some motivational beats to get the party started and keep it going!

Insert Coins Gamebar is an interactive nightclub complete with dancing, in-house DJs and guest DJs. Drink away your night while playing video games from the 70s, 80s, and 90s – PacMan, Frogger, Asteroids, Missile Command to name a few.  (The only bummer to this venue is that when I went many of the games were not in working order. Boo!) This is just one of the many things to do in downtown Las Vegas! Insert Coins Bar is a smaller venue but has weekly events or you can get with them to schedule your very own private event – a wedding perhaps ;)

So, a customer died at the Heart Attack Grill once upon a time – I say that’s their own fault for eating that greasy mess! I will admit I have yet to dine at this fine establishment but as far as things to do in downtown Las Vegas, this is it! I see a line waiting to get in nearly every time I go by. There’s also a large sign on the fa├žade that lets you know if you weigh over 350 pounds, you eat free! It’s true, I cringe, but who am I to judge?! Their burgers are supposed to be phenomenal and I’m sure it’s worth waiting in line to patronize… will I be eating there anytime soon? As soon as I’ve starved myself for a week and need to refuel!

If burgers aren’t your thing and you aren’t the size of a small water buffalo, take Slotzilla for a spin! This zip-line rushes you down the length of Fremont Street and you can go Superman style down the line. They have an upper level at 100 feet and a lower level (for all you chickens) at 70 feet. My educated guess is that if the zip-line snaps and you hit the pavement from either height, it’s going to “hurt” the same.
