Cinco de Mayo in Las Vegas!

Written by Tiffany Milligan – A Vegas Local

Cinco de Mayo, known to many as “Cinco de Drinko” is a great time to party in Las Vegas…or anywhere really! I mean, people in the good ole U.S. of A. always needs a good reason to have fun…which is probably why it’s celebrated way more here than in Mexico! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Las Vegas with the other party goers on MAY FIFTH - figured I’d do the translating of the date for you ;)

Really though, what is Cinco de Mayo? It’s NOT Mexican Independence Day but rather it commemorates the cause of freedom and democracy during the Civil War in America. It is a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride in United States.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo should be done with a bit of Mexican flair don’t you think? Just a little ambiance that eludes to the fact that we’re celebrating Mexican heritage would be nice! Here are a few places you can celebrate while basking in some Mexican elements.

Senor Frog’s at Treasure Island knows how to party. Their interactive staff gets the party started with a drink menu reminiscent of Mexican beach vacations. Dance, drink, eat, and celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Las Vegas at Senor Frog’s! Contests that you never thought you’d enter await!

Carlos ‘n’ Charlie’s is another vacation inspired bar that will bring out the spring breaker in all of us! Sangria and margaritas on the huge wooden deck that holds you and 199 of your closest friends is a great way to get your Cinco de Mayo on!

Cabo Wabo will begin its celebration on Friday at noon. Festivities will include Mexican themed drinks and Mexican inspired décor. Drink specials will run the entire three days to ensure a drunken good time will be had by all!

Cantina Laredo will have some sexy mamas salsa dancing and some aggressive drunks bashing piñatas. Don’t wait until May 5th to head over – they’re celebrating on the 3rd and 4th! Topshelf margaritas for $6? Sounds like a plan!

Tacos & Tequila’s décor is a bit rustic with its use of muted yet bold colors similar to a Mexican sunset. How to Choose the Best Views in the Grand Canyon

Written by Tiffany Milligan – A Vegas Local

You’re in Las Vegas and while you’re in our wonderful city you want to see the Grand Canyon – of course! BUT, you don’t want to just see some dirt cliff peeping out behind some trees, you want the best views of the Grand Canyon – that only makes sense ;) Experience the Grand Canyon like it’s your ONLY chance to see it… you only regret the things you didn’t do! Let’s break it on down – North Rim? South Rim? West Rim? That is the question!

best views of the Grand Canyon, Experience the Grand Canyon - West RimThe West Rim provides glorious views of the Grand Canyon but is mainly devoid of trees. That’s not necessarily a bad thing because it allows all of the beautiful warm reds, golds, and oranges of the earth to glow under the warm sun. The West Rim also has Hoover Dam so you’re killing two birds with one stone – PETA probably hates that saying ;) Tourism is thriving on the West Rim so if you’re looking for seclusion and want to surround yourself with nature, you’re going to have to have the awesome ability to block out the crowd. The Western Escape helicopter tour is a great way to experience the Grand Canyon and its West Rim. On your way to the West Rim you will fly over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Fortification Hill and Temple Rock. You’ll have 3.5 hours at the West Rim to go on the skywalk glass-bottom observation deck and the overlooks – plenty of time to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the views.

The North Rim is the place to go for isolation and solitude. This rim is generally closed most of the winter due to its elevation and hence, adverse weather conditions. It’s a good idea to check out the weather before you go. There are not many amenities on the North Rim so I wouldn’t recommend this for people that like the luxuries of restaurants and restrooms. I would recommend for you to experience the Grand Canyon from the North Rim if you have seen the other rims of the Grand Canyon – or perhaps if you're someone that just wants to go meditate in the silence.

best views of the Grand Canyon, Experience the Grand Canyon - South Rim
Grand Canyon National Park is just a stone throw away from Las Vegas, in the neighboring state of Arizona. Mather Point at the South Rim (my favorite rim) proves to have the best views of the Grand Canyon. The South Rim has many amenities and miles of walking paths (you can even take a guided tour to the bottom). You can see the tree covered Grand Canyon from many angles from this rim. If you leave Las Vegas and head there via airplane, The South Rim Explorer will get you there in 45 minutes (it takes a little over 4 hours to drive), provide a gourmet box lunch (isn’t that kinda contradictory? Lol), allow you to take in all the views, and take a short hike if so desired. If you’ve stopped in the Phoenix area, on your way to see us in Vegas, it would be a great time to do the Grand Canyon Day Ground Tour. On the Day Ground Tour you will take the famous Route 66, spying a few sites along the way, and spending THREE HOURS in Grand Canyon National Park. There’s no way to describe the overpowering wonder of the world without diminishing its size, so bring your camera and take plenty of pictures!

Plan a memory with a sightseeing tour to the Grand Canyon National Park. Call our local gurus to help you reserve your seats at 1.855.895.3293 or 702.851.3293!
